The adidas x Mastermind Japan NMD XR1 is launching far sooner than anticipated. After the first images surfaced online earlier this week, the sneaker community wasn’t expecting an official release date for some time. Thankfully, adidas have shocked everyone by scheduling a launch for Tuesday 20th September.
Given the current hype for the NMD XR1, this couldn’t come fast enough. While many of the previous colourways have now sold out from the debut launch, many are looking to the upcoming designs for autumn and winter. This latest collaboration is set to be the biggest of the year.
It comes crafted from super soft Primeknit which is very similar to the earliest versions of the ‘Nomad’ runner. Previous XR1’s all featured a synthetic cage surround but this pair opts for a soft leather material. It compliments the luxurious feel of the Primeknit while retaining that signature XR1 look.
One of the most visually striking elements of this design is that skull and crossbones print to the tongue. It’s the signature motif of Mastermind Japan. It also makes a subtle appearance to the heel and lace surround.
As mentioned, the adidas x Mastermind Japan NMD XR1 is launching very soon. For more updates on this collection, be sure to follow our social media pages.
